Wapify is a WhatsApp automation app for Shopify stores. It confirms cash-on-delivery orders, recovers abandoned carts, sends shipping and order updates, requests reviews, sends back-in-stock alerts, and gives merchants a two-way WhatsApp inbox. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have.
Two roles. Wapify is used by merchants (Shopify store owners who install the app) and processes information about their customers (shoppers of those stores). For customer personal data, the merchant is the “data controller” and Wapify acts as a “data processor” on the merchant’s behalf and instructions. Customers should direct data requests to the store they purchased from; we help merchants respond.
1. Information we collect
From merchants
- Store & account details — your Shopify store domain and the access token Shopify issues when you install the app.
- Plan & billing status — your subscription tier and billing cycle (subscriptions are charged through Shopify Billing; we do not receive or store your card details).
- WhatsApp connection details — if you connect your own WhatsApp Business number, the WhatsApp Business Account ID, phone number ID, and the access token needed to send messages as your brand.
- Settings you configure — automation rules, message templates, and quick replies.
About your customers (received from your store)
- Contact details — customer name, phone number, and email address.
- Order & checkout data — order and checkout identifiers, products, totals, currency, payment/fulfillment status, shipping updates, cancellation status, and abandoned-checkout details.
- Locale — the customer’s language, so messages are sent in Arabic or English.
WhatsApp conversation data
- Messages sent to and received from customers through the WhatsApp Business Platform, the WhatsApp profile name and ID, and message delivery status (sent, delivered, read, failed).
- Reviews and ratings customers submit, and phone numbers customers enter into the storefront “back in stock” widget.
Technical & log data
- Message delivery logs, timestamps, and error messages, used to operate the service and support merchants.
Delivery reliability data (pseudonymized)
- When a store's shipping carrier reports a final delivery result for an order (delivered or failed delivery), we record that outcome together with a one-way cryptographic hash of the customer's phone number — the phone number itself is not stored with this record and cannot be recovered from it.
- These pseudonymized outcomes are aggregated across stores that use Wapify to compute a delivery-reliability indicator (an "acceptance rate") over the last 12 months. It contains no names, addresses, order contents, or store identities — only counts of delivered and failed deliveries.
- This indicator helps merchants assess cash-on-delivery risk. It is never used for advertising, never sold, and is deleted for a customer when a store submits an erasure request on their behalf.
2. How we use information
- To provide the service — to send automated and manual WhatsApp messages on the merchant’s behalf (order confirmation, abandoned-cart recovery, shipping and fulfillment updates, cancellations, review requests, back-in-stock alerts, and upsells) and to power the merchant’s two-way inbox and message history.
- To operate billing — to apply the correct plan and message quotas.
- To provide support, security, and reliability — to troubleshoot, prevent abuse, and keep the service running.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not use customer data for advertising or for any purpose unrelated to running the merchant’s store communications.
3. Messaging and consent
Messages are sent to a customer about that customer’s own orders and interactions with the merchant’s store. Automated messages use message templates that Meta reviews and approves before they can be sent, consistent with the WhatsApp Business Platform’s policies. Customers can stop receiving messages at any time by replying to ask to opt out.
4. Who we share information with
We share data only with the service providers needed to run Wapify, and only for that purpose:
| Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Shopify Inc. | The platform your store runs on and the source of store, order, and customer data. |
| Meta Platforms, Inc. (WhatsApp Business Platform) | Delivery of WhatsApp messages to and from your customers. |
| Supabase | Secure database hosting for the data described above. |
| Vercel | Hosting of the application. |
| Inngest | Reliable background processing of scheduled and queued messages. |
| Judge.me | Only if a merchant connects the optional Judge.me reviews integration. |
| PostHog, Inc. | Product analytics about how merchants use the app (pages visited, features enabled, message volumes). Identified at the store level only — no customer personal data is shared. |
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the service.
5. International data transfers
Your information may be stored and processed in countries other than the one you live in. Where it is, we rely on appropriate safeguards to protect it in line with this policy and applicable law.
6. Data retention and deletion
- We keep data for as long as the app is installed and as needed to provide the service.
- When a merchant uninstalls Wapify, we delete the app session immediately, and Shopify sends us a shop-redaction request approximately 48 hours later — at which point we erase the store’s data, including its customers’ personal data.
- Customer erasure requests — when a customer asks a store to delete their data, Shopify sends us a customer-redaction request and we erase that customer’s personal data (phone numbers, messages, reviews, and related records) that we hold for that store, including that store’s contributions to the pseudonymized delivery-reliability data.
- Delivery-reliability indicator — computed over a rolling 12-month window; older outcomes stop influencing it automatically.
We support Shopify’s mandatory privacy webhooks — customers/data_request, customers/redact, and shop/redact — to handle these requests.
7. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or object to the processing of your personal data, and to request a copy of it.
- If you are a customer of a store, contact that store (the data controller) to make a request; the store can action it through Wapify, or we will assist the store on request.
- If you are a merchant, you can manage and delete data in the app, or contact us using the details below.
8. Data deletion requests
To request deletion of your data, contact us on WhatsApp at +20 109 044 8833 or by email at attiaux@gmail.com. Merchants can also trigger full deletion of their store’s data by uninstalling the app.
9. Security
We protect data with access controls and encrypted connections. Access tokens and customer data are stored in our database with access restricted to the application’s own service credentials. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to promptly address issues if they arise.
10. Children
Wapify is a business tool for merchants and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date above, and material changes may be communicated to merchants in the app.
