This page explains how to delete data held by Wapify, the WhatsApp automation app for Shopify stores. How you request deletion depends on whether you are a merchant who installed the app or a customer of a store that uses it. For full detail on what we store and why, see our Privacy Policy.
If you are a merchant (you installed Wapify)
You can delete all of your store’s data — including your settings and your customers’ data that Wapify holds — by uninstalling the app:
- In your Shopify admin, go to Settings → Apps and sales channels.
- Find Wapify and choose Uninstall.
When you uninstall, we delete your app session immediately. Shopify then sends us a shop-redaction request approximately 48 hours later, at which point we erase your store’s remaining data, including your customers’ personal data. If you would like this done sooner, or want written confirmation, contact us using the details below.
If you are a customer of a store
Wapify processes your data on behalf of the store you interacted with — that store controls your data. To have your data deleted:
- Contact the store you purchased from and ask them to delete your personal data. When a store submits that request, Shopify notifies us and we erase the personal data (phone number, messages, reviews, and related records) we hold about you for that store.
- You can also contact us directly using the details below, and we will assist the store in actioning your request.
What gets deleted
Depending on the request, we delete the applicable records we hold, which may include: contact details (name, phone number, email), order and checkout data, WhatsApp conversation history, message delivery logs, reviews, and back-in-stock subscriptions. Some records may be retained only where required by law (for example, to meet legal or accounting obligations).
How long it takes
Deletion is completed promptly after your request is verified — and, for uninstalls, within about 48 hours of the app being removed.
